My name is Sam, and I’m a fourth (and hopefully final) year student. My role is the Academic and Advocacy Officer this year. Academic Reps, other students and I will have the privilege of organising the MedSoc academic events (tutorials, intro and summary sessions, MOSCEs, practice exams and so on).
We will also be your point of call in advocating to the medical school, and occasionally to other external bodies, about academic issues that affect us. This might be from issues as small as poor organisation of lectures, to assessment, or the overall curriculum across the 4 years. There is no issue too big or too small – working together, we can make our experience of med school better for all of us, and leave a better school behind for the students in the years to come.
If there is an academic issue you’re facing and you’d like some back up, shoot me a message or an email. Your academic reps will also be keen ears to listen to you. And I hope you will all get involved as we create learning opportunities for each other!
Lots of love,
Meet Your Academic & Advocacy Officer
